Hello There! My name is Pawsby.
You probably see me walking every day with my guardian through city streets and country lanes, on our sandy beaches and through our parks and playgrounds. More often than not I’m sad to say my guardian whispers to me, “Pawsby, I didn’t bring the scoop because I didn’t think you’d poop.” It really makes me feel bad. I love my guardian dearly but kind of irresponsible, don’t you think? I can understand that he doesn’t particularly like to put his hand inside that plastic grocery bag, but for goodness sake I am a dog. He certainly must know how much it irritates our neighbors if they don’t see that plastic bag empty or full swaying in the breeze.
An American pet products survey reports that there are 77.5 million dogs in the United States. Forty percent of the dog owners surveyed report that they don’t pick up dog waste because they feel it will eventually go away. The same number believe it is too embarrassing and too much of a hassle to pick it up and carry it away.
I know my guardian is embarrassed when he meets his friends on our walk and he is carrying the “goods,” but I’m embarrassed too when I see the “goods” on some little kid’s sneakers. I’m afraid to tell him that it just doesn’t end there.
